ABOUT AMPLIFi
AMPLIFi is a co-created media project of iACT, asking the question:
What if conflict-affected communities were resourced to collect and share their own stories with the world?
Together with partners and local actors, we are building out a citizen journalism program that will enable those living in hard-to-reach communities to tell their stories in powerful ways. A main objective of AMPLIFi is to train and resource individuals with the knowledge and equipment needed — from cell phones, to tripods, to microphones — to record and share their stories so that the world can hear their voices.
WHY CITIZEN JOURNALISM?

CHAD
In Chad, right now the community is dealing with the arrival of more than 730,000 new refugees as a result of the war in Sudan. Local community members are taking on the AMPLIFi project, with their storytelling revolving around bringing attention to the violence in Sudan, the experiences of refugees most recently displaced, and the stories of those who have lived in the refugee camps for more than 20 years.
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
In Bangui, Central African Republic, iACT’s AMPLIFi team is focused on telling the story of the barriers girls and women face in playing soccer. The coaches of Bangui United have struggled to consistently bring girls into the program, with the community not seeing soccer as a girl’s sport. The AMPLIFi team is documenting their journey as the coaches work to increase girls’ participation in soccer and change the minds and hearts of people around them.
