iACTivist, a Mindful Humanitarian Pathway

We are days away from piloting iACTivist, a mindful humanitarian pathway; an idea that was born years ago. From our origin story to now, we have always done things a little differently than a traditional or larger organization. iACT’s approach from the very beginning was to listen first, create solutions together, and never forget the human being in front of you. This basic methodology has informed the way we carry out our mission to aid, empower, and extend hope to those affected by mass atrocities. iACTivist is an encapsulation of this practiced approach and all its intangibles that have made our work different, special, and successful.

Like all of our other program curriculums it begins with a framework, adaptable to fit the needs of the environment, or in this case, the audience. Until we change the way people respond to and face humanitarian crises, they will continue to happen. This is why our work cannot be limited to survivors of mass atrocities. Breaking the cycle of violence that produces communities of refugees and displaced persons has to include working with the unaffected: the bystanders, the upstanders, educators, humanitarian workers, professionals, and everyday people.

With 10+ years of experience in gathering with men, women, and children who have been forced to migrate, we are so excited to share the transformation of all the abstracts of our approach into iACTivist, a mindful humanitarian pathway. The sessions in this workshop make up a pathway to run down, walk along, veer off of, and come back to. This is a training that will introduce a journey that anybody can take to understand themselves, others, and especially people on the move.
