iACT Celebrates #GivingTuesday

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 14, 2022

iACT celebrates GivingTuesday with its #SpreadJoy campaign, joining millions around the world participating in the global generosity movement on November 29, 2022

LOS ANGELES, NOVEMBER 29, 2022 - This GivingTuesday, iACT will inspire generosity by encouraging the world to #SpreadJoy, connecting communities across the globe through play.

iACT believes all children, including those in forgotten communities, deserve to experience joy through play. The fact of the matter is, whether you live in a refugee camp in Chad, a conflict zone in Ukraine, or a suburb of Los Angeles, we are all connected in our need for play.

Play brings us joy, it teaches us coping skills, it can positively impact brain development, and it can help children build strong relationships. Play is even enshrined in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

How Does iACT #SpreadJoy Through Play?

Through refugee- and community-led programs, iACT creates safe and joyful spaces for children to experience play. Each year, thousands of children participate in our Little Ripples (LR) early childhood education program and our Refugees United Soccer Academy (RUSA).

  • In 2022, more than 13,000 children played soccer through RUSA

  • In 2022, nearly 1,300 children experienced play-based learning through LR

  • RUSA now exists in all 12 Darfuri refugee camps in eastern Chad, as well as in communities across Armenia, Cameroon, Tanzania, and the Central African Republic

“I love playing football very much. It is an important part of my life. It gives us the chance to make many friends. Our trainings are very fun, especially when we gather together, greet one another, and also when we have new players and start getting to know them as well as making more friends.” - Arevik Babayan, 13yrs old, Goris, Armenia

About GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity to transform communities and the world. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past ten years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give. GivingTuesday strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity and equity around the globe.
